Salesforce renewal: what to do in the months before your date

Your Salesforce contract renews automatically. What changed in 2026, your three options, a timeline back from your notice date and what to get in writing.

In short

Your Salesforce contract renews automatically at the end of its term unless you give written notice within the period in your Order Form. Since September 2026 the price list has new, more expensive editions, so start about 6 months ahead: measure what you use, decide whether to renew as is, renew better or leave, and get your edition and price in writing.

When does your Salesforce contract renew?

The date that matters isn't the contract end date but the notice deadline. Both are in your Order Form: the subscription end date and how many days in advance you must say you won't renew. If the notice period isn't there, check the Master Subscription Agreement (MSA). Miss it, and the subscription renews for another term.

If you have several Order Forms (Sales Cloud on one, CPQ or Experience Cloud on another), each may have its own date. Write them all down.

When do you have to notify Salesforce?

Enter your contract end date and the notice days in your Order Form. We give you the last day to give notice and when to get started.

Your Order Form shows it as the subscription end date.

Notice days for non-renewal

It is in your Order Form or the master agreement. If you are not sure, we use 90 days, the safest option.

We work backwards: 2 weeks of parallel run before the notice, 6 weeks of project before that and 4 more to run the numbers without rushing.

What changed for renewals in 2026

On 3 September 2026 Salesforce introduced three new editions for Sales Cloud and Service Cloud. Enterprise and Unlimited no longer appear on its price list.

EditionList price (Spain)Flex Credits included per org per year
Core€195 per user per month500,000
Advanced€395 per user per month1 million
Max€550 per user per month2.75 million

Billed annually. Starter Suite (€25) and Pro Suite (€100) are unchanged.

What this means for your renewal:

  1. Your current edition hasn't vanished from your contract. Salesforce says existing customers keep their legacy pricing. It hasn't said for how long those editions can be renewed.
  2. The new ones cost more. Core is 11% above Enterprise's $175, Advanced 13% above Unlimited's $350. In return you get Agentforce, Slack and a pool of Flex Credits you may not need.
  3. There's a new usage-based cost. Each Agentforce action uses 20 Flex Credits and 100,000 credits cost €500. Unused credits expire; anything above your pool is billed monthly.

Before the edition change, in August 2025, Salesforce had already raised Enterprise and Unlimited list prices by 6% on average. We cover it in detail in what changes with Core, Advanced and Max and how Flex Credits are billed.

Your three options

OptionWhat it meansWhen it makes senseWhat you need
Renew as isSame edition, same licences, whatever price is proposedYour team uses Salesforce well and it's worth what you payJust a careful read of the quote
Renew betterRight-size licences, drop unused add-ons, get a price cap, keep your editionYou use Salesforce but pay for more than you useUsage data from your org and 4 to 6 months of lead time
Don't renewMove to another CRM before the contract endsYou use a small part of it and the bill grows every yearA 6-week project that finishes before your notice deadline

All three start the same way: knowing what you actually use. With a read-only user and the 8 queries in our licence audit, it takes 30 minutes.

Timeline, counting back from your notice deadline

  • 6 months before: find your Order Forms, note dates and notice periods, pull real usage (weekly active users, objects, active Flows and add-ons).
  • 4 months before: cost out staying for 3 years on the expected quote, and leaving. Pick your option.
  • 3 months before: if you're negotiating, ask Salesforce in writing whether you can renew on your edition and at what increase. If you're leaving, start the project now: 6 weeks to build and migrate, plus 2 of parallel running.
  • Notice deadline: send written non-renewal notice if you're leaving, or sign what you negotiated if you're staying. Keep the acknowledgement.
  • Contract end: if you've left, your team is already working in the new CRM and Salesforce stays read-only until that date.

Five questions to ask in writing

  1. Can I renew on my current edition (Enterprise or Unlimited)? For how many more terms?
  2. What is the maximum increase at this renewal and the next ones? Can it go in the Order Form?
  3. If I move to Core or Advanced, what will my per-user price and discount be?
  4. How many Flex Credits will what I have switched on today consume, and what happens if I go over?
  5. Can I reduce licences or drop products at this renewal without losing my discount?

If the answers only come over the phone, ask for email confirmation.

When renewing is the right call

It happens, and we say so using the same numbers we use to argue the opposite. Stay on Salesforce if you have hundreds of users across countries with very different processes, depend on critical AppExchange packages with no alternative, get measurable return from Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud or Agentforce, or your team uses it well and it's worth the cost. Then the useful move is to negotiate the renewal well.

If that's not you, 2Q Technologies replaces Salesforce with a custom CRM in about 6 weeks, with all your data migrated and a one-time payment from €25,000. Start three months before your notice deadline and you'll have room to spare. This is a migration, week by week.

FAQ

How much notice do I need to give Salesforce not to renew?

It's set in your Order Form or, failing that, in the master agreement. Find it first: if you don't give notice within that period, the contract renews for another term. If you can't find it, work with 90 days to be safe.

Will I be forced onto Core or Advanced at renewal?

Salesforce says existing Enterprise and Unlimited customers keep their pricing, but it hasn't said how long those editions can be renewed. Ask in writing before your notice deadline.

How much does Salesforce increase prices at renewal?

It depends on your contract and your negotiation. As a public reference, Enterprise and Unlimited list prices rose 6% on average in August 2025, and Core costs 11% more than Enterprise.

Can I reduce licences at renewal?

Renewal is when you can. Bring the number of users who actually log in each week and ask that the reduction doesn't cost you your discount.

Is there time to leave Salesforce before I renew?

If your notice deadline is more than three months away, yes: a 2Q Technologies project takes about 6 weeks, plus 2 of parallel running. If it's closer, talk to us as soon as possible.
